1. Background
The Renewables Grid Initiative is a unique collaboration of NGOs
and TSOs from across Europe engaging in an ‘energy transition
ecosystem-of-actors’. We promote fair, transparent, sustainable
grid development to enable the growth of renewables to achieve
full decarbonisation in line with the Paris Agreement.
We are looking for a Manager – Communication, who can manage a
portfolio of communication, event and advocacy activities.
The successful candidate should fit well into our open and
international team of smart, driven and creative individuals,
bridging intercultural divides between the corporate and
non-governmental world. The selected candidate will be based in
Berlin and work in our office in Berlin Tempelhof on a wide range
of tasks.
2. Specific tasks
The Manager – Communication will work on the following projects
and tasks:
- Assuming a collaborative role in RGI’s communication/social
team
- Leading on the development of a new media/press strategy for
RGI
- Developing RGI’s upcoming podcast activities
- Operational lead of one or multiple ongoing and upcoming
events (such as workshops, conferences, webinars, trainings or
study tours)
- Leading on or contributing to RGI’s communication activities
including writing and/or developing newsletters, press releases,
brochures, websites, and social media activities
- Contributing to RGI’s advocacy activities, including
development of policy position papers and monitoring of relevant
policy processes at European level
- Writing and contributing to fundraising proposals
- Contributing to other ongoing projects at RGI as required
3. Qualifications and skills
RGI seeks a candidate, who is already a resident in Germany, and
who actively develops and implements ideas. The ideal candidate
should possess the following professional qualifications,
experience and personal attributes:
- Documented work experience in similar positions of at least
three years, ideally with an international component
- Experience in communications/PR (e.g. in communication
departments, media outlets, PR agencies): writing press releases,
developing publications, professional use of social media (esp.
Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Experience in organising events incl. conferences for upwards
of 100 people
- A good understanding of energy, climate and environmental
policies at the EU level, as well as an understanding of the
related groups of stakeholders and their positions in the
European environment
- Good knowledge of public acceptance/engagement processes in
the context of large-scale energy infrastructure
- A degree in a relevant field (e.g. media or communication
studies, energy economics, political science, European studies)
- Proven experience in project management, including the
ability to work on multiple parallel tasks and present in front
of large audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
(at least one further European language highly desirable)
- Ability to work fully independently and highly efficiently
and to structure own work
- Ability and willingness to work closely with other team
members and collaborate on other projects
- Interest to engage with various stakeholders from industry as
well as from the NGO/non-profit sector and beyond, and to lead
respectful and productive discussions with multiple partners
- Fast learning capabilities with ability to quickly understand
new issues
